My Forrest
My Forest is dark, the mist is thick and heavy. Water is stagnant as the algae grows denser. It’s cold and lonely. No life to be seen or noticed nearby. I lay in the darkness against the rough, cold, wet bark of the tree.
How have I found myself here? I think to myself as I shiver by the heavy mist against my exposed face.
I look around hoping to catch a glimpse of someone, something in the vicinity. I let out a saddened sigh. I feel like fading away but no one is noticing… like I’m screaming for help but no one can… hear me…
I stand myself up and start walking down the pathway covered by brush and dead tree limbs. Silence. Complete silence; not even the sound of crunching leaves as the ground is saturated with moisture. One step at a time until all of a sudden I am falling! As I’m falling, I’m frantically scraping the dirt walls surrounding me, trying to get a grip of the cold, wet earth slipping away from my fingertips.
“HEEEEEELLLLLLP” I scream as I’m frantically falling down this pitch black hole, seeming to never stop; descending further down. Then I plummet hard to the ground, heart racing, feeling nothing but emptiness, more so than before.
I sit there looking up begging for something to give as I let a tear drop from my tired eyes. Maybe I can just close my eyes and it’ll all disappear. I think to myself, shivering in this deep, lonely, dark, cold hole.
I close my eyes… but when I wake, I realize it’s nothing but reality… and I’m fading away and no one can hear my screams.
